Spinal Manipulation in Children
- A 2020 mandated rapid review of the safety of SMT in children under the age of 10 included 2 randomized controlled trials, one cohort study and 22 case reports. It found that most studies report mild and transient adverse events, but that the risk of moderate and severe adverse events is unknown in children treated with SMT. It is unclear whether SMT increases the risk of adverse events in children under 10 years old.1
